From Adjusted Address with its classic Bent Left Wrist, use the Lagging Clubhead Takeaway. It will still be Right Arm Controlled, both in terms of its Physics (Motion) and its Geometry (alignment to the Plane Line).

Not being a TGM guy....yet , I still don't know much of the terminology and don't have the book. I gather from your response I should feel the right arm controlling/dominating the takeaway? And I'm trying to hook up with AI Tom Reynolds in Kensington, Maryland for a lesson when it warms up here.

That's right, jdtoyou. Even with the Lagging Clubhead Takeaway, the Start Up is dominated by the Right Forearm Tracing the Base Line of the Inclined Plane (the 'gutter' on the 'pitched roof').

Interestingly, Tom would rarely ask his questions in class. But afterwards...now that was a different story. And almost always with a Club in his hand and a determined 'I want the straight skinny' look in his eye! Given his physical size, that was somewhat intimitating for someone -- namely me! -- expected to deliver.

But any such fear was groundless. Tom could not have been a nicer guy or a more interested student. He -- like Homer Kelley himself -- is interested in only one thing for his students: The correct information. And that is exactly what he can supply.

One of my last memories at Pine Needles was Tom at the far left side of the long practice tee using his strong Right Arm to drill shot-after-shot toward those intermediate flags about 150 yards out.

Thank for your response, I know you're a busy guy I'm hoping that when I get a lesson with Tom, it will be what I'm looking for. Right now I've been taking lessons with a younger pro (late 30's). He is a very good player and has played in 2-3 US Opens. Smaller guy but pounds the ball! But he is a little scatter brained during lessons, we go off on tangents sometimes, and when I ask questions about specific parts of the golf swing he does not have real answers (considering he worked with Leadbetter, Suttie, ect) For example, when I asked him about the wrists and lag, how it was created and held....his response was "well what do you mean, they just do it." So I'm hoping that TGM and Tom will usher in a new era of understanding and improving my golf swing for a serious player that's not a pro.

This brought a smile to me. I was in that AI class with Tom in Atlanta - the same class (February 2004) that Yoda made his reentry into the ring, and what a re-entry it was! Interestingly, there was also a very very good player who played on the mini tours, was short, pounded it and basically had it all. He was pretty good friends with Davis Love and Freddy.

At any rate, during one of our discussions, he mentioned that he had no idea what he did (to an extent - he had some ideas but wasnt entirely positive), only that he knew how to do it. In otherwards, he 'just did it'. For some it is that easy (think back to throwing a baseball, how you 'just do it'). For others, no matter how athletic, it isnt that easy. Which makes TGM instructors all that more important because they know how it's done!

Does anyone know where Tom Reynolds is teaching now? He apparently use to teach at White Flint Golf Park in Olney, MD but that place is now being replaced by a condo building. Does anyone have contact information for him?
