I understand extensor action going back, a continual effort to try and straighten the right arm, but not sure about the downswing procedure. Is it the same right arm straightening procedure? That feels like you would be casting the club.
Also, I am trying to get rid of a lot of unneeded body movement. I would like to just stand there and bring it back and down. WOuld proper extensor action allow me to do this?
Try making very slow practice swings. You know the feeling of extensor action on the takeaway and to top. Now swing down slowly. Stop half way down. Check your extensor action. Is it there? Turn it. Turn it off. Feel the difference with and without. Remember the left arm is a piece of string. Keep it stretched THROUGHOUT the swing.

I also have trouble with it on the downswing. When I try to consciously apply it on the downswing I loose some of my pressure point feelings, mainly #3. I feel like I am overriding it with the downward pull of extensor action and losing some of the feel of the laging clubhead.
Am I pulling it down too much or too hard?
If you were to go to both arms straight position and slowly work backwards applying extensor action, when my left arm gets about parallel or just past to the ground I feel as though the extensor action has to move more upwards and my elbow bends more severely. Is this a correct feel? I dont know if that is right because if I am bending my elbow then I am not trying to straighten it. Or should I be more concerned about trying to straighten my right arm outward instead of upward?
I found the answer to my question in the archives. (CEGarchives.pdf p.320)
Yoda talks about improperly applied extensor action. I think I was doing that.
I was pulling downward too hard.
Quote:
Extensor Action "improperly applied" means allowing the #3 Pressure Point to 'Push Away' the Lag Pressure Point and thus Flatten the Bent Right Wrist. Instead the function of the #3 is to merely 'Pull on' and 'Stretch' the Above-Plane Left Arm.
"Don't Panic - Instant Simplification is right here with you all the time."
I think the above quote from Homer represents this site well.
Can the left arm not be "straight" and still have extensor action? I find that if I try to keep the left arm straight with the "stretch or tug" I lose the #3 but if I just keep some pressure on the left arm I'm OK.

Yes.
Constant Left Arm Radius is what you're striving for.
