Newcomers - Learn the Flying Wedges...First
I teach golf management and a golf PE at a University....

This past semester we taught approx. 100 golf management students and 35 PE students... who had no "real" prior knowledge of G.O.L.F.

and showed them both flying wedges ...first....yeah first...

before grip,aim,and set -up...

Why?....

Well the FW's determine Grip type, Set -up(#3Acc Angle ,Waist Bend and Knee Bend) and the direction of the wedges help with Aim...

What was amazing...was everyone looked like a golfer at Address(Station 1)...some maintained the alignments to the Top(Station 2)...and a few made a golf-like motion to the Finish(Station 3)...

I say we got a C+ for the first time and an A for the second time...all showed improvement and understanding...

Tip from AS...

You will have a very, very ,very, difficult time trying to figure out the yellow book without fully understanding the "Flying Wedge Concept"...

Trust me!!!

Go to the immediately to LBG Archives/Gallery if you do not understand them...

Lottsa Luck!!!

I agree with this 100%. Even after reading through the book twice, I was treading water in the ocean of knowledge that is TGM. I didn't learn how to swim until I learned the Flying Wedges.

Form and function?
Hi.

This is my first post on the forum. Thanks to all the owners and contributors for the great stuff here.

When considering those Flying Wedges are we to regard them as more than just wedge shapes? Is Homer also referring to one or other of the functions of a wedge: lifting, levering, splitting etc.? If so, I've missed that and could someone elaborate?

Thanks.

Jim

After Pine Needles I taught my then 7 yr old son the wedges in about ten minutes. I haven't said I thing about them since and he knows in the back of his brain that left is flat and right is bent. I'll stay pat with that for now.

Annikan, u da man!

I always get a lot out of your posts. I always just thought of the wedges to be common sense, no need for dowels or anything. But you're right it really does help to ingrain the hand positions into my ole' thick skull.

thanks

Rob
