I've been working on monitoring PP #3, as per the suggestions made after my previous post on the subject. So far, the feel that I've been getting is that when I want to hit a slightly longer chip or pitch (I haven't worked on this with my full swing yet), I tend to experience more weight on PP #3 as a tightening of my grip. I'm certain that this is not what I'm supposed to feel.
Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong and how to correct it? Thank you.

Teach, You actually have stumbled into the world of serendipity with this tight grip thing. Actually it is a very good way to chip. Per 6-B-1-D . . .
This action of Extensor force can be substituded for Downstroke Acceleration of the Arms and Hands – in part or wholly – for “less than full Power” shots calling for the precision execution of a heavy, constant Hand Speed through Release and Impact. Lag Pressure then can be the artificial pressure of a tight right forefinger grip – which, actually, can serve the same function for Backstroke guidance (6-C-1).
So try having your index finger and thumb on the right hand do a little pinch action on the grip. Then hit chips. I learned this from Eddie Cox. You can meter out the lag big time chipping this way. You'll feel like you hit the ball way too hard but it will come of dead soft. I like the shot with the wedge, SW, and LW. You can be more aggressive with these clubs. Hit it hard, but the result is soft.
