I just started reading The Golfing Machine a month ago. My instructor, although not an AI, is a very talented player and has referenced TGM several times in his teaching. I thought that TGM was an easier read than most make it out to be. That is probably because I already familiar with some of the concepts (albeit using different terminology).
I have found that my ball striking has become measurably better in the last month. The main reason is because I am compressing the ball almost every strike because I now know what proper lag feels like. This is due to do the instruction on this site (Lynn's test pilot video).
The other bit that really helped was Ben Doyle's advice to feel like you are driving the ball into the ground. I think that subconciously helps me aim to the proper aimpoint.
Although I am smashing my irons pretty well now, my driver and 3 wood are still a little erratic. I am not sure what feeling that I should be looking for here. I purposely don't concentrate on smashing the ball into ground because I've always been told to concentrate on "sweeping" the ball of of the tee.
My current ball flight with the driver is straight to a very strong draw (almost a hook). I think that I am coming back down a little inside. This may be because I am aiming for an aimpoint that is too close.
Does anyone have and ideas on what type of feeling that I should be chasing for the woods? Thanks!
