The main things i cannot understand is the fact that the shaft is verticle but the hands are moving around your body. Please correct me if i am wrong about this anyone.

Chris,I may be misunderstanding you,but are you talking about the wristcock being a vertical motion?
This is a very important thing to understand.Wristcock is a vertical motion ,but because of the body rotation imparting a rotational motion to the arms it occurs "on plane".
