Last week, I had spent a bit of time hitting balls with my mentor, GSEB,Hong Kong. we were copying Lynn and Ted, synchronized tee shot. Obviously it will not be as impressive as what Lynn and Ted does, but what make it interesting is that, rather then doing a Carey Mumford, “ Mary has a little lamb” we were counting 1,2,3. After we had done all the mechanical thought in the waggle, by counting 1,2,3, our mind was completely blank. Very interesting drill, as good as the 32balls drill.
And we had done a little bit of video session, and I always ask my mentor what sort of procedure that he is using. He always tells me that, he is hitting. But strange enough, he hits like a Swinger.
He is a Student of Mr. Paul Hart, kind of fan of Jack Kuykendall (an anti TGM Guy) and Moe Norman, and he always believe that, hitting is quite straight forward but harder to learn. But soon you are getting lazier, then you “Swing”.
He always believe that the “tripod” is the right way, and Mr Blake is always his learning symbol, and he always put me off if I am trying the BM’s stuff. According to what he said, he is using non-auto procedure and doing some kind random release, as well as focuses a lot of his Hand action (Not wrist). He always believe that Aiming point concept is one of the most important thing to learn, he believes- it is very similar to Non-Auto procedure, where both are link to the timing of the rhythm. But he never talks about the blast-off action, also ask me to forget about the pivot and the hip slide.
Now, the story is – I had discover, he himself is doing the BM’s stuff although he is not intended to do it; the more he is trying to do a single axis tilt, stationary head and a standard Float loading, the more he looks alike double axis tilt, and drag load. But the more I am trying to do a double axis tilt, drag load, the more I swing like a hitter. And everytime I asked him the Master Accumulator 4, hip slide and the shoulder throw, his answer is “doesn’t matter, you are using it anyway, your little hair and the fluid in your ears will take care of it”. Whatever he said, seem to be opposite to the book.. very strange…
BTW, I used my right forearm pick up and at the top top, can’t fix the “left side ???” reverse spine angle, (I forgot the term), head exactly between my feet, while my mentor was indeed lagging club head take away, head was well above the right foot.
But guess what, by viewing the video in slow motion, I got more extension of both arms after impact. Not to mention distance, otherwise, my mentor will beat me!
