I find it amazing how long some guys on tour take to hit a putt.

I don't necessarily agree with it because it just takes so damn long but...look at Tiger for example. He looks like a crippled old man when he's putting. He is just so slow and deliberate.

What I mean I guess is that it impresses me that they are able to take that long and really get into the putt and study it, yet they can remain so focused and unwavering during that time.

Most people get all kinds of bad thoughts in their heads if they are that deliberate (yet those same people will do it anyway).

Having said that though...I do not like to take as much time as Tiger would, for example. Maybe if I have a 'serious' putt in a tournament or something...I would take a while to read it maybe, and be cautious when lining it up...but once I'm over it I don't like to dick around.

Baddely putts this way...doesn't let your mind shift into a state where it is allowed to think.

Everyone has a natural rythem and you have to learn how to find it.

I usually have people putt with their eyes closed to find theirs. Then i let them figure out a metronone (sp?) to it that they can repeat with their eyes open.

I go to a 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

1) set club behind ball
2) slight forward press
3) back
4) through

I vary the length of 3 - 4 for certain length putts.

Everyone will be different but when i help someone many (including me when i figured this out) found i sunk more putts with my eyes closed versus open cuz i found my natural rythem.
