I looked into this when I had my Scotty Cameron Studio Design 1 cut down from 35" to 32 1/2" . You add 12 gms of weight for every inch you cut off. I put lead tape on the back of the putter and lead powder down the shaft. I am getting someone to drill holes in the putter heel and toe and fill the holes in with molten lead and then refinish the putter. In your case where you are cutting off 2" that is 24 gms to add.

Forget about the headweight.....cut it down and then start experiementing with a back weight.

It will make more difference imo

Scotty Cameron studio stainless Newport 2 is offered in 33", 34" and 35" with 350 g, 340 g and 330 g of headweight respectively. I guess that'll more or less confirm Hues statement about 12 g difference for every inch.

Defintely another vote for backweighting. You can return the static weight and balance point to be exactly as it was at length. Takes 10 minutes and a couple fishing gear weights. Or you can really get into it and test/try 50-100 gms of weights for full blown backweighting.

Careful with lead tape, and particularly powder down the shaft. They can change that "precious" MOI and throw off the heel-toe weighting.
