Max Trigger Delay
After being mired in a ball-striking slump of sorts for a few weeks, I decided to brush up on some of my TGM "book fundamentals" and also reviewed Ben's tape again (probably the 20th time I've viewed it and I pick up something each time). I think the concept of extensor action may have finally kicked in and I managed to shoot rounds of 72-71-69-71 over the long Labor Day weekend with some really solid ball-striking. During the following week I attempted to employ more "max trigger delay" into my pattern and fired a 68 on day one of a 2-day event and again, I experienced some really solid ball-striking. Unfortunately I followed that up with an 80 on day 2 and really felt like I was "fighting"my swing. This past week I had some of the best range sessions I've ever had and was absolutely killing the driver, but again, the weekend saw one day of great ball-strking and one that was more mediocre.

With all that said, is max trigger delay such a finely timed action that you should stay away from it unless fully mastered? Is it possible to "hold the angle" TOO deep into the release interval? It seems that most of my misses when attempting max trigger delay feel like "late hits" that usually go right or are thin.

The more delay you have, the more precise your aiming point and rhythm must be. Extensor action will help you with the rhythm in either case (max delay or not).
