Homer Kelley in 1967 had a new idea about the swing plane: his plane is determined by the lie of the club and thus is much flatter than Hogan's. However, the club is only supposed to move on that plane 90° left and right of the ball. During the swing the shaft is supposed to point at any time either with the butt end towards the target line or, when it is parallel to the ground, also parallel to the target line. In his book he selected on purpose a woman as model, who has never played Golf before.
