HELP!!!! GOLF TRIP GAMES!!! MAYDAY NEED HELP FAST!!!
Guys! I need help. Me and my buddies are moving Dorkfest to Myrtle Beach this year. HEADING OUT NEXT WEEK SO NEED INPUT FAST! We've got 8 guys with handicaps all over the board . . .

2 guys 8-5 handicap
2 guys 10-14 handicap
2 guys 15 ish
2 guys just plain stink

I need some ideas on how to get the action going. Thought about 2 man teams Ryder Cup style. We'll play 36 two days and 18 on the last in then back to the real world. I'd like to have on individual thing going for the whole trip.

Could Y'all help me with some betting games that would make the playing field somewhat level. The stinker guys have expressed concern that they'll just be throwing their cash away.

Please help!

Regards,

Richard

One of the best games I ever played....which can really work for almost any type of groups is "AMIGO".

Basically, your partner can change every hole. The first thing to remember is that honors has no part in this game (for the most part). On the first hole, you decide who will hit 1-2-3-4. After that, each person keeps moving up a slot, while to one who hit first, drops to #4 on the next hole.

The concept behind AMIGO is that the two people furthest left after the tee shot are partners, as are the two furthest right! You would be amazed that after the first guy snap hooks one left into the water, how much the other guys will bail out right...I mean "way right" to avoid being his partner! Amount of $$ can vary based on the group at hand. We used to play low ball for a point and low (2-man) total for a point. Birdies are double, Eagles are worth three....

Others
A 2 guys 8-5 handicap
B 2 guys 10-14 handicap
C 2 guys 15 ish
D 2 guys just plain stink

Let the 8 pick first, then the 5, then the 8 and so on till you have two 4 man teams.

Or form a team of the 5 and 14, flip a coin for a C and a D.
The 8 is teamed w/ the three left.

Make a 4some of the A's and B's-Rotate partners each 3 or 6 holes
Same for other 4.

I like the suggestion of two points a hole. 1 point for low ball, 1 point for low total (ties get zero) however you have to get creative when selecting teams. (5 gets the worst partner......)

Ameigo/almost! same format but #4 hitter on each hole gets to pick his partner as each hits. #4 hitter is actually not #4 except every 5th hole. i.e.-I am # 4 and #4 hitter on the 1st. hole. I can select #1 hitter as a partner for that hole after he hits or pass him up and select #2 hitter after he hits or pass, then must take #3 as partner-can't back up. Sometimes a lot of fun, especially when drinking and playing for peanuts.

Then there is always "Gotcha!"

Set-up an ABCD team according to handicap. Play one best ball of the four on par 5's, two best balls on the par 4's, and three best ball on the par 3's. It keeps everbody in the game and lets the higher handicaps contributre on the shorter holes. I recomend 80% handicap, but you can go as far as 100%.

Those par 3's can make you or bereak you.

Thanks man! So at 80% of handicap a 10 gets 8 strokes? Is this just to keep people honest?

Honest, and keeps higher handicaps from potentially dominating the days activities (their handicap is obviously rduced more). At my club we always play one on one at 100%, two vs. two at 90%, foursome vs. foursome at 80%. It works out very well. Everyone goes home happy and usually half in the bag .
