My lowest putts per GIR was 1.125 (7 birdies) and I averaged about 1.71 per GIR for the year. At the time, it was a very good average compared to the Tour. And it was THE ONLY thing that I had in my game that resembled a professional, B.Y. (Before Yoda).
Keeping that kind of information gives you an idea about the best places to shave strokes.

I have tried to do the same on and off. One year my putting statistics had me around 30 putts per round. I don't remember my PPGIR. I am going to start keeping the stats again this year and see where I end up. Lately, my chipping (vertical hinging rules

) and putting have really improved. I am looking for a sub-30 putts average this year.
