Looking for some clarification on how a swinger alters the release point of his motion. I've been working on max trigger delay for a while now but experimented last night with what "felt like" a much earlier release point. The compression felt much stronger and impact felt "heavier" than I've been experiencing with max delay. I'm just not sure I understood how I achieved the earlier release, but it felt like it was a combo of pivot and right arm participation. Uh-oh.... that sounds like trouble.
Are acceptable release point changes achieved through aiming point, pivot deceleration, delivery lines, throws, all the above?
"Where" you release is Component 24. "How" you trigger the release is Component 20. The Trigger most compatible with the Full Sweep release is the Hand Throw. The Triggers most compatible with the Random Sweep release are the Right Arm Throw (Hitter's procedure) and the Shoulder Turn Throw (Swinger's procedure).
Using the pivot (Shoulder Turn Throw) and/or right arm (Right Arm Throw) as you did would be compatible with your feeling that you were getting an earlier (Random Sweep) release.
Delivery Path throws and Hand throws are more compatible with the later, Snap release.
RWH,
Thanks, your explanation clears up the inter-relationships. Now I need to determine if I'm using the Right Arm or the Shoulder Turn Throw.

The word "most" does not show up in 10-24-A. The Full Sweep Release...This procedure....Triggers the Release at the Start Down by either the Hand Throw or the Right Arm Throw (10-20) Non-Automatic Trigger Types.
The phrase "most compatible" with the hand throw is no where to be found in 10-24-A.
The closest stroke that I would use the phrase "most compatible" with if we are talking about the hand throw trigger would be "Hands Only" Putting Stroke.
Chapter 11. Component 20 (Trigger Types) appears on page 217 [6th Edition]. The chart shows which trigger types go with the different releases.
It appears Homer forgot to reference 10-24-A with 10-20-B in chapter 11 section 20. 10-20-B states the right arm can be triggered with an early or late release.

You are right, Dave, the Right Arm Throw can Trigger a Full Sweep Release per 10-24-A. However, Homer listed only the most common Combinations, not all that are possible. And the Hand Throw is by far the most common Trigger of the Full Sweep Release.
Another example would be the ommission of the Wrist Throw in Combination with the Delivery Path Throw. In fact, one could argue that the Wrist Throw occurring in an Automatic Snap Release is the Delivery Path Throw.

Great clarification Yoda
I've always had that in my mind but didn't have the courage to say it!
