The shot seems to work best with zero pivot.
You need to get your body into position so your right forearm and elbow won't run into your right side.
I stand slightly open for level shots.
Here is something to try that came from a Lee Trevino tape.
From a steep down hill lie, try a closed stance. It gives your elbow and forearm plenty of room.
