I used to work hard on getting my thumbs under the shaft...wondered why I hooked it off the planet, until I realized that a so-called rotated to open toe pointing down at end would promote a coat hanger! I remember Gary Player criticizing Tiger for having a shut face, as opposed to a slight cup in the left wrist like hogan. Henry Cotton did not like the "American shut-faced" look either.
