It started with 20-30 yard pitches: they were flying very low and with a lot of hook spin. Trying to figure out why this was happening, I figured out that I have been setting up with a very closed face at address. At adjusted address, the face of my clubs, all of them, face to the left of the plane line. Here is the issue: I realize that this hook-face at address is what I am comfortable with; and I found that when I corrected the face at address, I would unconsciously re-grip the club in the backswing to the hook face again. It seemed that when I took a practice swing or two to monitor my alignments, by the time I went back to address, my closed face had returned. It was an incredible effort for me not to re-grip the club on the backswing, and when I did not, I had a very high tension level which made it difficult to swing on plane. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this problem of re-gripping, or on whether I am thinking about this issue correctly? Thanks for all your help. RP rprevost, As with many TGM disciples I assume that you employ a hitting procedure for most of your less than full shots. So, there should be no problems with you gripping the club at, and starting the swing from, Impact Fix - rather than your more normal start point. Adopting this (hitting) procedure should take you away from the normal "comfort zone" set up you currently employ at address and still defer to despite your better judgement. __________________ IB "My only handicap is me!!!"
