What I find in my practice is that the more you understand your strength the more control you have. Yea, yea what does that mean? Certainly if you exhaust your muscles (squeezing a ball on your way to a tournament) you will suffer the consequences. I don't do my leg workout the day before I go rock climbing. But training your hands to be stronger should only give you more connectivity to your grip. One of my not so famous sayings to my clients is as follows: "You don't train to build muscle, you train to improve the transfer of information between your mind and your body which makes the whole system more efficient. you have a thought to create a specific movement, you can create a specific physical reaction in compliance with that thought/intention." [ It is the reason the name of my private practice is The Physical Experience. ] Whether it's biceps, quads, or hands I believe this to be the truth.
