I wouldn't call my hitting stroke very correct, but it works for me and is similar to what you're doing:

Closed stance
Closed hips

i do my best to bump and swing to right field but i tend to just pull it right to my target so thats how "I" play "my hitting stroke"

Sorta like the US Open leader I just pull draw it to my target.....hmmm who else used to do that, sam someone???
