So, whats a typical work out program like????
 
Anyone know what the typical tour player who works out regularly does as part of their regimine?

Cardio
Weights
Flex
Core
Balance/Stability

What would be the number of days and length of time per workout?

What would they focus on?

I'm not sure what is "typical" but I can tell you my opinion just based on general health and well being.

I like to do cardio a minimum of 4 days per week, usually 5-6. I think you should work up to a minimum of 20 minutes per session for each of those. I also like to throw in one longer cardio session each week.

Strength training, which I include core training, is done 3 times per week with at least one day rest between sessions.

Flexibility is something I work on daily.

Consistency is the main thing. Working out for a couple of weeks then missing a month isn't going to help you much. Stick to your routine even if you have to cut sessions short due to schedule problems. Better to do something than nothing.

Right on Trig, There is nothing typical in training your body. The only typical formula I could provide is: that 3-4 days of cardio at 20 minutes is a minimum for maximal heart health and 5-6 days is what is required to create body composition changes (i.e. loose body fat). The frequency is most important, duration runs a close second with intensity. If you're trying to increase strength it is optimal to divide up your body parts and try to hit them twice a week. Chest, shoulders, arms on Monday-Thursday and Legs and back on Tuesday-Friday are a favorite among professionals I know. Three day a week workouts won't allow much recovery so you could risk exposure to injury by overuse if you are using much resistence. Flexibility everyday is a staple and good nutrition goes without saying. This is why I always refer to finding a trainer that can get your body composition numbers and then adapt a workout to your objective. Sorry, no magic bullets. Vickie
