first post help
this is my first post so im not to sure where the best place to post it was so feel free to move it if it should be somewhere else.
ive been reading the book on and off for a few years now but never really understood enough of it, but about 9 months ago i suffered from a perforated bowel that required surgery, as i went in as an emergency they cut through the muscle wall north to south so no no work and no golf. during my recovery i found this site and the book begins to make more sense. at the moment im still recovering but allowed to chip and putt- basic motion into acquired motion seems a great way to start! now to the point taking it back seems great but ive been shanking every now and then, tried the slow motion drill and it felt that I turn my hips and pull my left shoulder with them throwing everything off plane but and its a big but if i try and restrict my hips i still have a feeling of my hands going outward.why? |
forgot to say motion is that of a swinger
thanks for the site lynn it helped pass some dark winter days with no golf on the horizon and has added a silver lining to my recouperation. |
Sounds like your setup may need some work, shoulders too open and/or too level (you need some tilt because your right hand is lower than your left. For the basic motion, focus more on keeping a bent right wrist, and the bending/straightening of the right elbow, for that short shot you are very likely opening the clubface (turning) too much. Feel that the clubface faces the ball more for your chip shots. Straighten the right arm while keeping the right wrist bent and the left wrist flat.

i do have a tendency so set up slightly open, in terms of oening the club face when my left arm is at 45* on the back swing say 7-8 oclock clubshaft is parallel to the plane and horizontal to the ground with my left wrist pretty flat and vertical to the ground which is where it should be?
the feeling i get on longer shots is of my hands going left and the clubhead outside them,Ive tended to overdo the karate chop feeeling and pull the left arm downtrying to stay under the plane but lose release so either way the hosel is heading for the ball, Im a 3hcp so these arent violent motions and on film i make a reasonable pass at the ball. |
