Brian are you saying that you should learn TGM from a one pattern teacher first and then see how else it can be done

Based on St. Augustine I would like to make some suggestions. If video is offered take it. You will find that you will be going back to it over and over again. Each time you look at it you will find something different.
After you come back and settle back into your normal routine and start to apply the things you learned, your swing will be different, you will be looking at it differently and paying attention to things you never knew existed.
After you have worked on the items you remembered and they become an intergral part of your swing a review of the video will bring new things to light. As your swing progresses you will look at the video in a different light. Things that you saw and didn't pay attention to the first three or four times are now seen in a different light.
After you come back from "The Bash in Destin" do not plan on going to your pro. Plan on spending all your practice time reviewing the info from The Beach. There will be many golden nuggets for you to discover and claim as your own.
And lastly, enjoy yourself! Ask questions and more questions and even more questions. You cannot ask too much. You will be amazed at what happens to your swing. These are good people. You cannot get a better group of people, more knowledgeable or more able to communicate in the golfing world. What they are doing is going to revolutionize the golf teaching world. And you can be part of it.

And there you have it: From the heart and from someone who knows. Thanks, Jim.

We agree- given the two choices- see Doyle first. Make Lynn your final stop on the journey.
Now if you want to be an AI- see everybody.

NEVERSTOP LEARNING
I got my first book in 1981. I dabbled until 1994. Brian got me into it heavily. I saw Ben next, then Chuck, then Joe and Lynn most recently. And I love where I am now. This formula has worked for me.

There is a "school of thought" that Ben's teachings and Lynn's teachings are incompatable.
Nope.
Remember....I showed Ben Lynn's swing and he LOVED IT!
The point is Ben SEES the swing and COMMUNICATES the swing Ben's way, Lynn does it his way (straight from Homer) and I do it my way.
But we all know a good swing when we see it (or teach it).
PS...

We Are Family
Ben Doyle through his tapes was the first fog lifting for me too, Brian.
Since Ben there was you, Chuck, Cox, and Lynn and that is just the AIs. Throw in Phillygolf, Golfingrandy, Mike O, Martee, tgmgolfer2k2, Bagger, Sonny, Tri and others -- and we have F-A-M-I-L-Y. And a great way to learn.

My idea was rather that I can't wait to get it all (which I probably never will) & that getting info from different sources is probably more efficient time-wise. I would think that a session with Ben and Lynn are quite different experiences, but that they are sharing the same solid TGM base. Which is excellent.
I've had my fair share of incompable advice before. Seeing several different individuals (Ben, Lynn, Chuck) and experiencing that they share the same foundation (TGM) is actually (and unfortunately) something quite unique.
I'd also like to see Brian and David Laville (who does not seem to teach, but is an interesting character) - one day also. I am pretty sure that the two are again pretty new experiences but still sticking to TGM - each in their way.
In short: Several different AI's, each with different personality and presentation, but all sharing the same cookbook (TGM) should sound fantastic to all confused golfers on the planet - each "spending eons of man years trying to eliminate effect instead of cause".

stimpson,
I can only give you what I can as far as some direction. Here is the deal and you and everyone else can cipher through it and make a logical decision if one applies sound reasoning.
Due to many costs attached to the first Workshop in St. Augustine that Lynn, Chuck and myself put together, the cost was something like $1500. This included range, breakfast, lunch and one awards ceremony honoring the recipient of the first Homer Kelley Award winner. I would doubt that the party and fellowship shared that evening will ever be duplicated again.
With the above being said, not included in the above cost was rooms. The situation I am in is one that is possibly unique. You have a Golfing Machine fan who likes golf and loves people. At my disposal is a Resort, 36 holes of golf and a machine in place that has the marketing, sales and staff to rock some boats. This blessing that has been given to me creates an opportunity for me to do things that many in golfdom cannot only do but actually refuse to do. Not only that but I wanted to up the ante whereby you can not only work on your swing but I have provided the opportunity for the mental game to be developed. This was quite the perfect substitution for yours truly because I cannot commit to being there every minute. Now the parties and having some beers, count me in.
So I encourage you to make a list of pros and cons. Put your pencil to the cost. Then to top it off, I will provide you with all the contacts from the First Workshop. I will give you numbers to speak with Dr. Carey, Chuck and you know how to reach Lynn here.
I assure you that if you make the call to come, that you will walk away understanding your swing and golf like you have never experienced before and if not, I will make it right.
Thanks for your time.
Randy
