Clubhead Overtaking
Tonight in a Private Message, a member asked:

Quote:

Lynn,

We are into rhythm . I have explained about the lever assemblies, the same rpm, BUT

How do I explain the bold part in

Holding both Lever Assemblies to the same basic R.P.M. throughout the Stroke

while overtaking all other Components at a steady, even rate.

I have searched here but cannot find any info on it.

Thank you in advance
Understanding the Clubhead's Downstroke 'Overtaking' (of the Pivot, Arms and Hands):

A THREE-POSITION DRILL.

Position I. Hold your Left Arm and Club straight out in front of your Left Shoulder. Left Arm parallel to the ground. Left Wrist Flat and Level. Clubshaft pointing obliquely toward the sky. This is the Left Arm Fying Wedge.

Position II. Now, without moving your Left Arm, Turn (to the right) your Left Hand (and Flat Left Wrist), palm down. The Left palm and Clubshaft now are parallel to the ground. Note that the Left Arm Flying Wedge alignments are undisturbed, i.e., the Clubshaft and Left Forearm remain 'in-line'.

Position III. Roll (to the left) your Left Wrist -- through the mid-condition with the Clubshaft perpendicular to the ground -- until the back of the Left Hand is parallel to the ground. Note the Overtaking of the Clubshaft (of the Left Arm and Hands) as it remains 'in-line' with the Left Forearm. This is the 'Full Roll' of the #3 Accumulator (6-B-3-0).

APPLYING THE DRILL:

Now, with that motion in mind, assume Positon #1. Drop your Left Arm and Left Wrist down onto the Inclined Plane. Then, Roll the Left Arm Flying Wedge in accordance with Positions #1 and #2. In conjunction with the leading Pivot Motion, this the mandatory Clubhead Overtaking of the Hands on the Inclined Plane. The Action's appearance will vary from Impact to Follow-Through based on the selected Hinge Action -- Horizontal, Angled or Vertical -- but it MUST exist in every Stroke.

Study 6-B-3-0 and Photos 6-B-3-0 #1 and #2.

Left Wrist Level
If the Left Wrist is Level wouldn't the Clubshaft be parallel to the ground? Would the Clubshaft be oblique? Thank you!

No; the drill is using a full swing grip with the shaft underneath the heel pad of the left hand. Doing the drill with this grip, the clubshaft would not be parallel to the ground until the left wrist is fully uncocked.
