Commentators
I heard a commentator say that Tiger is being chased. If his lead is increasing, is it still correct to use the term “Chase”?

Tigers lead has increased to 8 strokes after the third round. If the Chase Commentary is an acurate description of the competition, then is Tiger speeding up or are those chasing him, slowing down?

Agreed, Daryl. In this instance, perhaps the word 'followed' is more appropriate!

Maybe they said "chaste"...
Merriam-Webster states...
"Main Entry: chaste
Pronunciation: \ˈchāst\
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): chast·er; chast·est
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin castus pure
Date: 13th century
1: innocent of unlawful sexual intercourse
2: celibate
3: pure in thought and act : modest
4 a: severely simple in design or execution : austere <chaste classicism> b: clean spotless
— chaste·ly adverb
— chaste·ness \ˈchās(t)-nəs\ noun "
Now i reckon that he is certainly 1 and would be insane to be 2 given his good fortune in finding his wife but he is certainly 3 when it comes to golf!!

I propose that "watched" or "observed" be the new term when he has a lead this big. Yoda's suggestion of "followed" is good, but that would imply that the rest of the field is actually going somewhere (at least in that tournament).
No disrespect to the rest of the field, however. They ARE trying. Tiger, it seems, is once again that good.

And apparently is improving. Here's a quote from today's NY Times:
“I’m starting to get better,” Woods said.
“I’m hitting shots that I never could hit before, even in 2000. People think, Yeah, you played great, but I made everything in 2000. I’m actually hitting the ball better now than I did during that stretch.”
For the rest of the field, a pretty scary thought!
