Maybe this can be the start of a congratulatory list of some sort.
I would like to congratulate Ty Tryon for his win on the Hooters tour. Succeeding perhaps only to unrequited love, having more golfing talent then most mere morals but not good enough to play on the big tour must anguish and torment beyond belief. This victory proves that he can notch one in the winners column. Hope he follows Chad Campbell out from under the Hooters into the cozy confines of the voluptuous PGA Tour.
A 59 in November at the Gland Slam and then a 60 last week at the FBR and now a record setting 62 at Spyglass giving him a three-shot lead in the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Wow. And the ball he is using is the Callaway prototype golf ball called "Hex Tour 56.” 56? Phil might shot that being under the black magic spell of this “Hex.” \/
Congratulations to Olin Browne who shot a 59 to put him at 10-under 132 and three shots behind medalist J.P. Hayes. He shot 73-59 and sought out a USGA official to ask him the proper way to withdraw from U.S. Open qualifying, figuring his 73 over the first 18 holes left him no chance.
BUT GET THIS:
Browne's 59, won't even be the course record on the South course at Woodmont. Five years ago, Shigeki Maruyama had a 58 during U.S. Open qualifying.
