I seem to be stuck in a cycle of a month or so striking solid irons and can't hit a wood to save my life then back the other way.
On the weekend I struck my irons probably better than i ever had, long and with a nice high draw.
With either the 3W or driver in my hand i couldn't hit it to save myself even taking slow motion half swings... just felt like i couldn't get to the ball without getting over active with the pivot. The bad shots were fats, drop kicks, tops and the occasional low draw that at least advanced up the fairway
Tried some basic and aquired motion with the driver after the round but still can't get it back with these longer clubs. I'm not trying to hit them any harder than my wedges...
Welcome to my world , Since finding this site 4-5 weeks ago and getting the book I decided to tear apart my swing and build it with help from Homer, Yoda and everyone else here.
Just recently the light started to flicker and my irons are improving daily. My woods are a total different story, I have a hard time putting the same swing routine into my driver as my irons and my game has suffered.
Don't let it get you down, I believe with all my heart your on the right track to learning G.O.L.F. and having many years of great golfing ahead of you.
Recently I posted a similar question and didn't get to many answers, basically, the golf swing doesnt change no matter what club your using, but then again.. you already knew that.

Suggestions more than welcome!
Thanks
Sounds like you are flipping at it to me. Make sure that you Monitor your hopefully Flat Left Wrist. Take some swings with your eyes closed. Really focus on your HANDS. Is you Flat? Is you over-accelerating? Can you feel your pressure points?
It's hard to say what's going on without seeing it. Get your video camera out if you have one. See if you're bending your left wrist.
What are you TRYING to do when you hit your woods?
