The feeling of no release
I have been reading everything I can find on TGM and have ordered "The Book", but haven't received it yet. I have been trying to set up with the right forearm on the shaft plane, feel the impact position then begin the backswing. I then try to start down and keep the left wrist flat and the right wrist bent through impact. The feeling this gives me is of the right elbow almost leading, and PP1 leading PP3. All of this taken together gives me the feeling that the clubface is square through out the stroke. But it also give me the feeling that I am holding on the the club through impact and not releasing. Is this feeling normal, or am I doing something wrong? It could be that I have been breaking down for so many years that I only feel like I'm holding on, but some feedback on this would be nice. Thanks.

Glad you asked this question---I'm doing exactly the same thing and have the same feeling. I'm sure one of the "big guys" will help us.

the answer to your question is
how is your ball flight? If you're hitting the ball you must be releasing. right?

The problem is that I'm doing all of this indoors. It's not suitable outside to hit balls. I have stepped out in the yard and hit a ball or two into the adjacent field, and that seemed O.K. , but it really wasn't a good enough test in my opinion. Plus I've found that a lot of things will work temporarily, but aren't necessarily correct.

Heat - You are going to LOVE the Golfing Machine!. You've found the secret! When you get your book read 6-C-2-A and you will learn that clubhead lag has NO Release Point through and beyond impact. So as long as you are holding that lag as far through impact as you can, without chasing the clubhead, you are way ahead of the game.

Now it's time to determine if you prefer driving the club with your right arm through impact (Hitting), or if you prefer pulling the club through impact (Swinging). That will help define your left wrist action among other things.

Left wrist action
rwh -

My thoughts exactly but...here's a little personal experience.

My left wrist action is a component that I've ignored as I've focused on mastering others. It dawned on me a few months ago, "I have a hitters left wrist action and I'm a swinger! I have turn and roll, but not enough.
That's a component I'm working on now.

Only a few components to go and I'll finally have a swing that's all mine!

Then I can work on mastering Hitting!

(I need them both for the Sr. Tour!)
