(Guess EC was lucky. Last year at the Masters the officials were checking my binoculars very rigorously & asked me if there were some electronics inside. There wasnt, so I passed.)
I more or less always carry a Bushnell Pro Tour XL during my practice rounds. This is not that creative, but note that other than for determining yardages of your shots the rangefinder is abviously also a great instrument for figuring out yardages to bunkers, trees, over water & other certain spots on the golfcourse. I have my home course pretty well measured out by now & its great to know that one particular bunker requires a 195 meter carry and that there's 267 metres to the far treeline on the particular dogleg etc etc.
Also its great when playing overseas. Obviously I play metric most of the time, but since you can switch between yards and meters its easy to figure out what you need to know at times when you get the yardages messed up.
I have the model shown below & guess it is the only one able to pick a flag from a considerable distance. I like it a lot and in particular I am very pleased with the fact that the batteries easily covered one golf season without need for being changed.
I cannot find the receipt at this time, but I recall that I managed to get it at a price that was some 30% below what tgw.com offered. I'll post details if I come across them again.
